June 2008 Meeting Minutes

Posted by: admin on: June 12, 2008

P.O.I.N.T. members met at the Edison Community College June 10, 2008 at 7:00pm. Chuck Starrett opened the meeting and welcomed all members and visitors.

The first order of business was to learn about the two P.O.I.N.T. websites. Using a computer with its output routed to a projection system, the group was shown tips on how to get the most out of both of these websites.

First an hour was spent showing those present a number fo things available on piquapoint.org . A thorough discussion of the features, categories of content, and navigational short-cuts were discussed in significant detail. Then piquarentals.com was introduced and the features of that site were shown and discussed approximately another 30 minutes. The process for adding new rental listings was the most technical part of the discussion that was covered in that session. The conclusion for now is that those who want to list their properties on www.piquarentals.com, they should forward their listing to piquapoint@gmail.com to have it posted.

Dick Haynes read the minutes of the May 13, 2008 meeting and gave the treasurer’s report. Chuck requested a vote to approve the minutes. Motion made by Roy Howard and seconded by Chet Osborne. Minutes and the treasurer’s report were approved by show of hands.

Two issues from OREIA about the legislative agenda included legislation on CO detectors and shifting real estate taxes on rental properties to the owner’s personal residence. Both are on hold for the moment.

Chuck is planning to attend OREIA meeting on Saturday June 14th in Columbus.

A notice was made for members to consider working on a committee to advertise the ordinances on the November ballot.

Decals to identify P.O.I.N.T. member’s rentals are being worked on at Piqua Sign. Chet Osborne had mentioned it to Amy Welker and she thought it was a good idea.

Chuck read the proposed Code of Ethics and requested all to review and submit changes if needed.

Chuck updated attendees briefly on ACLU involvement with the referendums.

The next Board Meeting is June 30th. The next member’s meeting is July 8th.

Chet Osborne and John Martin asked if P.O.I.N.T. members would like to work with the Shawnee Neighborhood Association on power washing houses for the Youth Camp project in early July.

Motion to adjourn by Irvin Baltes and seconded by Luke Bolin. Meeting adjourned at 9:15 pm.
